Home voicemail answers your phone calls while you are away, on the Internet, sending a fax, or taking another call.

You can retrieve your voice messages at anytime from home or another location.

  1. Your voicemail will answer calls after 4 to 6 rings
  2. You will hear a skipping dial tone when new messages in your mailbox
  3. Your mailbox can store up to 45 messages for a maximum of 31 days each
  4. You can activate up to four individual sub-mailboxes

If you would like to deactivate your Charter Voicemail, please call us and ask to have Voicemail removed.

This will be completed within 24 hours of your request.

To change the number of rings on your phone service before voice mail answers you will need to contact us at 1-888-438-2427.

In order to add Charter Voicemail to your telephone features call us at 1-888-438-2427 and an advisor will assist you.

Call forwarding variable forwards all incoming calls from your home phone number to another number.

To Activate:

  1. Press *72
  2. Dial the number for the forwarding location
  3. When someone answers, Call forwarding is activated

To Deactivate:

  1. Press *73
  2. A tone will confirm deactivation

The Call Forward Busy/No Answer feature forwards all incoming calls when your line is busy or the calls are unanswered to a location of your choice.

Block 900/976* - These numbers are automatically blocked. Unblocking is not available.

Block Collect* - Blocks incoming collect calls. Contact us to enable/disable.

Block Long-Distance* - Blocks 1+, 0+, 10-10-XXX numbers and international calls. Contact us to enable/disable.

Block Third-Party* - Blocks third parties from billing calls to your phone number. Contact us to enable/disable.

Call Screening** - Automatically routes up to 12 incoming phone numbers to a polite message stating calls are not being accepted at this time. (*60 to activate, *80 to deactivate)

Anonymous Call Rejection** - Rejects calls from anyone whose Caller ID information is blocked. (*77 to activate, *87 to deactivate)

Selective Call Acceptance** - Limits incoming calls to up to 12 numbers and routes all other incoming calls to a message stating that calls are not being accepted (*64 to activate, *84 to deactivate)

From Your Home Phone:

  1. Dial your 7 or 10-digit home telephone number. (If PIN Skip is off, you must enter your PIN)

  2. Press *5 when you hear the greeting
  3. Enter your 10-digit phone number + #
  4. Enter your PIN + #
  5. You will enter the Main Menu

Call forward busy/no answer:
Forwards all incoming calls when your line is busy or the calls are unanswered to a number of your choice.

Call forward selective feature:
Forwards incoming calls from up to 12 selected phone numbers to the number of your choice.

Call forward variable feature:
Forwards ALL incoming calls from your home phone number to a number of your choice.

To set up your voicemail, you must be calling from your Charter home phone

  1. Dial your 7 or 10-digit Charter Phone number
  2. Voice instructions will guide you on how to create a new 4-digit PIN
  3. Your default PIN number is the last 4 digits of your phone number
  4. You will then be prompted to record your name and personal greeting

Distinctive Ring:

Provides two separate phone numbers on one phone line

Charter Internet and Phone customers can reset their PIN through Phone Online Manager available on the Phone Tab after logging into Charter Email.

You can also contact us at 1-888-438-2427 to reset your voicemail PIN.

Call Screening allows you to route up to 12 phone numbers to a message stating that calls are not being accepted at this time.

To Activate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, and then press *60. A menu of options will guide you to activate Call Screening.

To Deactivate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, and then press *80. A menu of options will guide you to deactivate Call Screening.

Charter Internet and Phone customers can also control this feature through Phone Online Manager available the Phone Tab after logging into their Charter Email.

Call Waiting allows you to accept a second call without disconnecting the first.

To Activate: When you hear a soft beep press the switch hook or flash button on your phone. This places the current call on hold while you accept the incoming one.

To Deactivate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, press *70, wait for the dial tone, and then dial the phone number you wish to call. Call Waiting is reactivated automatically once your call is completed.

Charter Internet and phone customers can deactivate Call waiting indefinitely through Phone Online Manager available through your Charter.net Email

With this free service, you can prevent the party you are calling from seeing your phone number. Instead, they will see private or anonymous on their display unit or phone.

To Activate: For each call you want to block, press *67 before you dial the number. Caller ID Blocking is available on a per-line basis.

Anonymous Call Rejection allows you to reject calls from anyone whose Caller ID information is blocked.

To Activate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, and then press *77

To Deactivate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, and then press *87

Charter Internet and Phone customers can also control this feature through Phone Online Manager available on the Phone Tab after logging into their Charter Email.

3-Way calling allows you to speak to two different parties at the same time.

To use:

  1. Place a call to the first party
  2. Once that person is on the line, press the switch hook or flash button briefly
  3. The first party will be placed on hold, and you will receive a dial tone
  4. Dial the second number
  5. When the second party answers press the switch hook once briefly to create a 3-way connection

To disconnect the second party:

  1. Press the switch hook once
  2. The first party will remain on the line
  3. To disconnect all parties, hang up the phone

Note: 3-Way Calling is not a feature that is included in Charter's 10-Feature Pack and can be added to your services by contacting us at 1-888-438-2427

From the Main Menu of your Primary Mailbox:

  1. Select 6 to select the Incoming Calls function
  2. Select 2 to work with your Group Mailbox (If this option is not given contact us at 1-888-438-2427)
  3. Select 1 to turn Group Mailbox ON/OFF

Selective Call Acceptance limits incoming calls to up to 12 designated numbers and auto-routes all other incoming calls to a polite message stating that calls are not being accepted at this time.

To Activate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, press *64, then follow the menu prompts to add numbers to your list of accepted callers

To Deactivate: Lift the handset, listen for the dial tone, and then press *84

Charter Internet and Phone customers can activate this feature through Phone Online Manager available on the Phone Tab after logging into Charter Email.

With Caller ID, the incoming caller's phone number and name (if available) are displayed on a Caller ID unit or Caller ID enabled telephone before you answer the call.

Note: Caller ID requires additional equipment and may not be available in all areas

For callers who have dialed a Charter Phone customer and would like to skip the voicemail greeting message, you may do so by pressing the # key, to skip the greeting and go directly to leaving a message.

Group Mailboxes allows family members or roommates to receive messages in separate, private mailboxes and create individual greetings for each mailbox.

To Activate Group Mailboxes:

Contact us at 1-888-438-2427 to activate this feature.

To Set Up Group Mailboxes:

  1. Dial your 7 or 10-digit home phone number.
  2. You will be prompted to select the mailbox that you want to set up.
    • Press 0 for Common Mailbox
    • Press 1 for Mailbox 1
    • Press 2 for Mailbox 2
    • Press 3 for Mailbox 3
    • Press 4 for Mailbox 4
  3. Voice instructions will guide you to create a new 4-digit PIN for that mailbox and record greetings.

Turning Group Mailbox On/Off:

  1. Press 6 from the Main Menu to select the Incoming Calls function
  2. Press 2 to work with your Group Mailbox
  3. Press 1 to turn the Group Mailbox on or off

You can change the way your messages are played back, including having your messages play automatically when you log in, or choosing urgent messages to play first.

  1. From the Main Menu, press 4 to change your mailbox settings
  2. Press 5 to change message playback setting

Default Greetings:

When you first activate your voicemail, you will have the option to record your name and personal greetings.

Custom Greetings:

From the Main Menu, press 3 to record/change your personal greetings.

  1. Select the greeting you want to record/change:
    • Press 1 for All Calls Greeting
    • Press 2 for No Answer Greeting
    • Press 3 for Busy Greeting
    • Press 5 for Extended Absence Greeting
    • Press 6 for Recording your Name
  2. After recording your greeting:
    • Press 1 to listen
    • Press 2 Activate/Deactivate Greeting
    • Press 3 Re-record Greeting
    • Press 6 Erase Greeting
    • Press *2 Return to previous menu
  3. Charter Internet and Phone customers can switch between greetings through Phone Online Manager available on the Phone Tab after logging into Charter Email.

Caller ID with Call Waiting identifies incoming calls while you are on the phone.

A soft beep alerts you to the call and the caller's information displays on your caller ID.

This feature allows you to decide whether to answer an incoming call based on who is calling.

In order to use this feature, you must subscribe to Caller ID and Call Waiting.

Identify up to eight phone numbers that you wish to program. Assign each number a one-digit code between 2 and 9.

  1. Press *74
  2. You will hear the message "Your speed dialing service is ON/OFF"
  3. Choose a selection at any time as the message continues

Press 1 to turn the service ON/OFF.

Press 2 to ADD numbers to your list.

  • Enter a number you want to assign (2 through 9)
  • Enter the phone number you want to program and press the # key
  • The system reads back the phone number you added and the speed dial location
  • Choose another option or press 6 to exit

Press 3 to DELETE numbers from your list.

  • Dial the speed dial (2 through 9) to be removed
  • The number you have removed and its location will be reviewed
  • Choose another option or press 6 to exit

Press 4 to DELETE ALL entries from your list

  • Press 1 to remove all numbers from you list
  • Press 0 to skip the change and return to the main menu

Press 5 to hear your list

  • Press 3 to delete an entry after you hear it
  • Press 0 to return to the main menu at any time

Press 6 to exit

Press 0 to hear the list of instructions repeated

The Worldwide 250 Calling Plan is an ala carte feature that complements your existing Charter Phone and offers 250 minutes of calling to over 200 worldwide destinations – morning, noon or night.

The Worldwide 250 Calling Plan is available on each Charter Phone line on your account.

There are no maintenance fees or connection charges associated with the Worldwide 250 Calling Plan.

You will only be charged $20 each month on your Charter Phone statement.

You will receive 250 minutes to use within a calendar month, even if you sign up for the Worldwide 250 Calling Plan mid-month.

For example, if you sign up on the 15th, you will receive 250 minutes in your account. Those minutes must be used by the last day of the month or they will expire.

You will automatically receive another 250 minutes on the 1st day of the next month.

  1. Dial * 250 from your Charter home phone
  2. After you hear the greeting, dial 225 at the prompt to hear your minute balance

The Worldwide 250 Calling Plan will not work through your cell phone. It is only available from your Charter home phone.

The Worldwide 250 Calling Plan includes calling to more than 200 countries.

Note: Calls made to international cell phones are not included in the Worldwide 250 Calling Plan

From your home phone, dial * 250 and follow the prompts.

Each time you dial * 250, you will hear your minute balance

You receive two warnings when you are close to exhausting your minutes (5 minutes & 1 minute)

A new batch of 250 minutes will be refreshed on the first day of the next month

You are able to place international calls using your Worldwide 250 Calling Plan with an International Toll Block on your account.

However, if you exhaust all minutes in your WW250 plan prior to the end of the current month you will be unable to direct dial using 011 + dialing procedures.
